About Us
Our people and culture
Three thousand eight hundred people in six countries, four in five of them nationals of the country they work in.
Falaj is an engineering company with an operating temperament. Most of the executive committee has run a plant, and the ones who have not have spent time on a site during a shutdown. That shapes the culture more than any values statement does: the person closest to the equipment is generally assumed to be right.
We are deliberately flat for a company of this size. A field supervisor can stop work anywhere in the group and does not need to explain it afterwards. The same supervisor is expected to raise a design problem to the engineering centre directly rather than through three layers of project management.

How we develop people
Development is structured rather than left to line managers to improvise:
- A two-year graduate rotation with at least one full site posting
- Competency frameworks per discipline, assessed rather than self-declared
- Funded professional accreditation for engineers and geoscientists
- Cross-border secondments between Muscat, Aberdeen and Abu Dhabi
- An internal operations academy for control-room and field technicians
- Leadership development that requires an operating role before promotion
